Precautions for Pet Preform
Characteristics of PET Raw Materials
The transparency is as high as more than 90%, the surface gloss is excellent, and the appearance is glassy; the aroma retention is excellent, the air tightness is good; the chemical resistance is excellent, and almost all organic drugs are resistant to acids; the hygienic property is good; it will not burn Toxic gas is generated; the strength characteristics are excellent, and various characteristics can be further improved by biaxial stretching.
Dry Moisture
Because PET has a certain degree of water absorption, it will absorb a lot of water during transportation, storage and use. Odorous effect on bottles, resulting in off-flavors (but little effect on humans).
Drying Requirements
Drying set temperature 165℃-175℃. Dwell time 4-6 hours. The temperature of the feeding port is above 160°C.
PET materials need to be dried first before going to the cylinder, in this process requiring a machine called a hopper dry. Some customers want to make coloured preform, like blue 5Gallon 20L pet preforms, while in this process needing equipment called a colour mixer; however, if you need more precisely meter the colour weight, another small equipment dosers would be required.
After drying and blending with masterbatches, PET materials are sent into cylinders with autoloader equipment, which can load PET particles into the cylinder’s inlet hopper. With cylinder heating and screw rotating heat, the plastic particles would be melt.
The PET plasticized melted flow would be injected into a mold. After flowing to the end of the cavities, the machines still hold pressure to shape the PET preforms, and after that, PET preform mold would be cooled with cooling water from chillers. After cooling and shaping well, PET preforms would be ejected by machine ejectors.
Basic Rules for Transporting and Storing Your Pet Preform
Avoid the risk of deformation
PET packaging is great because it's transparent, lightweight, gas-tight and strong. But to make sure it stays that way, you need to follow some basic rules when it comes to storage and transportation. PET packaging is not designed to be heat-resistant. If exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat, PET containers contract and become deformed. To avoid this risk, it is important to: Protect them from direct sunlight (including through windows and skylights). Keep them away from sources of heat. Never expose them to temperatures above 40° C (104° F).
The magnifying glass effect
Deformations caused by the sun often occur on items positioned in the middle of the pallet. This is because when the sun hits the packaging on the edges of the pallet, the magnifying glass effect causes the temperature to rise sharply in the middle of the pallet, deforming the items located there.
